Tapestry Against Polygamy claims polygamy is evil
The Tapestry Against Polygamy is always on the attack against the FLDS church, but what are they really attacking? They say that they are against polygamy, but after I read their list of danger signs it became apparent as to what they are really against: womens rights violations and cults. Lets take a look at the signs and see if they stack up against polygamy.
- Control over private lives.
This is definitly cult behavior
- Manipulation of marriages.
Arranged marriages have been around for a long time. This is more of a womens rights issue.
- Coerced Sex.
This is also a womens rights issue.
- Threats or intimidation.
More cult behavior and womens rights violations.
- The group seems perfect.
Definite cult behavior
- The group claims to have "all the answers" to your problems.
Again cult behavior
- You begin to feel guilty and ashamed, unworthy as a person.
Still more cult behavior
- The group speaks in a derogatory way about those outside the religious affiliation.
A religeous cult
- Outsiders are defined as unable to understand and help you with religious matters.
Again a religeous cult
- Males are believed to have more rights and abilities than females.
This is commonly found in Islam and third world countries where womens rights are non-existant.
- Leadership is never shared.
More cult behavior. Possibly a womens rights violation.
- Someone frequently prefaces his or her remarks with things like "The Lord has told me."

- An authoritarian leadership that claims exclusive access to God?s will.

As you can see none of these danger signs actually condem polygamy. The FLDS church is simply a religeous cult which denys women their rights. They could also be considered a doomsday cult as their “prophet” has predicted several end of the world dates; dates which have come and gone.
