What about marriage laws?

God tells the man that he must not divorce his good wife to marry another. If he does, he commits adultery. Mark 10:11. In God's word, the Bible, here are the only ways a woman or man can commit adultery: A married woman that marrys another man. Rom.7:3. Or a man that marrys another mans wife. Luke 16:18. Or a man that divorces his wife, without the cause of fornication, and marrys another. Mat.19:9. No where in God's word, the Bible, tell us that whosoever remains married to his wife and marrys commits adultery. The only men God commands not to have more than one wife are Church leaders, Deacons and Elders. 1Tim.3:1-12, Titus 1:6

Why should we marry?
  1. For the lifelong enjoyment of companionship, children, security, love, and to ascend to the heights of eroticism.
  2. God sometimes wants us to: But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn (strong lusting desire for sexual relations). 1Cor.7:9, Ex. 22:16. I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully. For some are already turned aside after Satan. 1Tim.5:14-15.
When are sexual relations a sin?

It's only a sin outside of marriage. God created it to be within marriage, and included a whole book about it in the Bible, Song of Solomon. When it's outside of a marriage, it's called fornication, in the physical sense. The word fornication has a spiritual meaning and a physical one, physically, sexual relations outside of marriage. The specific sexual sins outside of a marriage are as follows: Pressing, handling, embracing a female's breast and or genital areas, or copulation, with a female who is not your wife or by a male who is not your husband. Also, to see the genitals of a female by a male that's involved with her, but not her husband. Eze.23:2.

How do we get married?

God created the man and woman, and the way to marriage. When a man and woman agree to the commitment of a union, a contract or covenant of marriage is created. The Lord in Heaven said "Verily I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven" Mat.18:18. No paper is required, and the Lord is the witness to it. Mal.2:14. Furthermore, God tells us "For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife; And they twain (two) shall be one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let no man put asunder" (divide or separate) Mark 10:7-9. The word cleave (close together or inseperatable) creates a union and is complete after copulation. We know this by what the Lord says in 1Cor.6:16 concerning "one flesh". "What? Know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? For two, saith he shall be one flesh". We see that copulation creates the union or one flesh. It's evident through the conception and birth of a child. No wedding ceremony, no marriage license, no judge, nor preacher is required. The Lord tells us that the man and woman alone create their marriage. There's nothing wrong with a wedding ceremony, but it's not required.

Monogamy or polygyny. (One wife or more than one)

But as God hath distributed to every man, as the Lord hath called everyone, so let him walk. 1Cor.7:17-27. Not all men are called to a polygyny marriage, but if some are, so let them walk. The same for a monogamy marriage, not all are called to it. Furthermore, some men have the gift to remain single, then being able to serve God full time. 1Cor.7:7.

What to tell others who don't agree?

Nothing until asked, and then it depends on who's asking. God tells us not to put a stumbling block or an occasion to fall in a brother's way. Also, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. Rom.14:13-14. Therefore, if the person asking questions about your marriage might be against it, don't offend them. To do so might keep them from seeking Christ, and that's a sin. A polygyny marriage is not the big custom as the monogamy marriage is. But nonetheless the Lord has blessed many such marriages everywhere, from before Christ to this day!

Here are some of the many benefits of a polygyny marriage and being a sister-wife.

  9. It can enhance the economic power of the family.

  11. The time to attend college or pursue a career.
